More revision!

REVISION HELP!

Even the best need help now and again. The list is a series of websites that are available to use – they are not in any particular order of importance.

Be careful – these are not just for the Edexcel course. There are dozens of different courses. You will need to choose which bits are useful.

http://www.revisiontime.com/gcse_geography.html - this has links to other websites!

http://www.s-cool.co.uk/topic_index.asp?subject_id=20&d=0 – useful for physical geography in particular.

http://www.examzone.co.uk/home/ - this is Edexcel’s (the exam syllabus that we follow) own website that offers some support to students and parents.

http://www.geography.learnontheinternet.co.uk/gcse/revision.html - limited for what we do but some useful tips here on how to revise.

http://www.geography-site.co.uk/

At a recent parents evening, I was asked if it was worthwhile purchasing a revision guide. I would never say don’t buy one, but they all cover more than what we study, and are often not very relevant to what we are doing.

The one which most closely follows our syllabus:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tomorrows-Geography-Edexcel-Specification-Revision/dp/0340811080/sr=8-1/qid=1165923525/ref=sr_1_1/026-3882840-0155666?ie=UTF8&s=books

Their price is £4.99, some sellers on their marketplace may be cheaper. Be careful when ordering online that p&p doesn’t make it a very expensive option.

Tornado hits London.

Parts of North London were hit today by a mini tornado - the first one to hit the English capital for over 50 years. It has caused damage estimated by the Association of British Insurers to be in the millions of pounds.

You can find out more about this from the following link:

Wondering how a tornado is created? Have a look at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/5328524.stm

At the right hand side there are links showing you how other natural disasters are caused.

Revision techniques

http://www.cambridgestudents.org.uk/examtime/revisiontips/

There are tons of tips about how to revise here - ways to revise, how to plan time effectively etc.

My advice - plan ahead, try not to worry about things and do revision in plenty of time. If something is particularly hard you will then have time to get help so that you understand it.
