As part of the managing hazards, you need to understand the basics of plate tectonics. Hopefully this will be a refresher from KS3 studies.

Its been a while!
No posts since June - then 3 on one day. I hope to maintain this blog on a more regular basis from now on.
For those of you following an Edexcel GCSE course I'd recommend looking at previous posts over the last year. There is a lot of really good information.

More localised flooding
Sheffield amongst many cities, towns and villages in the Yorkshire, Humber and the Lincolnshire areas are suffering with rivers bursting their banks, together with an awful lot of flash flooding and record breaking volumes of rain.
Hull has seen some too - this photo was taken on the 15th June. How might this have contributed to the floods and devastation seen recently?
Click here for an image taken of the Hull floods on the 15th June.
Great weather for amphibians! Perhaps not so good for the people of Boscastle (again!)

You may have noticed that it is raining quite hard today. You may still be drying out!
The recent spells of heavy rain have really affected several areas of the country - including Boscastle. You may remember the massive flash flooding in 2004!
Read here for how Boscastle has recently been affected.
Local reports on issues are here!
The BBC have a whole raft of links and information about the 2004 events here.
Also from the BBC are a whole host of photographs from 2004.
This is an excellent and recent case (study) of Flooding in a MEDC!
