Waves

One thing that is very useful to know about are waves - how they are formed; the different types of waves and what they do. One of the better explanations for this can be found at http://www.geography-site.co.uk/pages/physical/coastal/waves.html

Another site covering waves (with diagrams that I use in lessons) is http://www.geography.learnontheinternet.co.uk/topics/waves.html

I'll wave goodbye to this post now.... (groan!!!)

Coastal Management

As part of the course, we need to know about how to manage coastlines.

These are split into two main categories - hard and soft engineering.

Wikipedia has a detailed description!

For wider learning...

It has been proven that using this site for a few hours can improve your final exam grades.

Many schools have subscribed to this website. If yours has, ask a member of staff to show you how to use it!

Worth saving - or saving up to visit???

Recently, there was an very good article in the Guardian newspaper which you can read by clicking here.

Global Warming is happening - and it will affect us all. As a colleague observed when coming across this article - its strange that we are being encouraged to fly to see these places when flying is a major contributor to global warming.

A mini paradox you may think...
